14 well-experienced doctors dispatched from the Health Department of Jiangsu Province of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "China") arrived in Japan on September 1st 2013. They've gone through lectures and inspections for overall medical knowledge, and started their training program from September 9th at such institutes as Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital, National Cancer Center, Tokyo Medical University Hospital, Toranomon Hospital, Sakakibara Heart Institute, Tokyo Metropolitan Neurological Hospital, and Nara Medical University Hospital respectively. They were trained by doctors of each department at those hospitals accepting the Chinese doctors for about 3 months, and finished all of their training program on November 26th 2013.
This Project has been developed under the cooperation between Jiangsu People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and JICE to nurture high-level human resources for Japan and Jiangsu Province. It is one of the projects aimed to develop human resources for young elite medical doctors of Jiangsu Province of China.
During their stay in Japan, they met with Mr. Seihan Mori, the Head of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and visited the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu arranged by JICE. They also conducted home visits to Japanese families 4 times based on the request from the Chinese doctors.
Wrap-up session was held on November 26th 2013, which was the last day of the training program. At the session, the Chinese doctors stated that they've achieved so much through this training program. They said that they acquired advanced technologies of diagnosis and treatments in their respective fields, attended clinical case conferences and meetings, observed surgeries, and read through various documents. They also said that they have learned how to establish a firm relationship with the patients, how it was important to handle personal information with utmost care, and how to run a hospital. They have been awarded with the certificate for the completion of the training program from Ms. Sachiko Yamano, President of JICE, at the end of the session.
At the farewell party after the wrap-up session, the Japanese medical counterparts who attended the party made a statement saying, "This training is acknowledged as the high-level human resource development program for doctors selected by the Health Department of Jiangsu Province of China. I hope that all the trained doctors would go back to China and take responsibility for spreading and developing all the knowledge and techniques that they've acquired in Japan." Dr. Zhang Kezhong, leader of the doctors, mentioned that he hoped China-Japan relationship would keep making progress in terms of medical development, making full use of the network established in Japan. He also expressed his gratitude for all those concerned who supported the Project.
JICE will continuously contribute to human resource development in the medical sector in Jiangsu Province of China
