Where we work
We work for the promotion of internationalization and multiculturalism in the Kyushu and Okinawa regions.
With professional knowledge and practical experience we are ready to help you to promote internationalization and multiculturalism in local governments, communities, corporations, educational institutions, and civic groups.
Toward the realization of a multicultural society in which people live together with foreign residents , we propose and support the implementation of multicultural programs that connect foreign residents in Japan with the local communities. We are ready to provide consistent support for planning, preparation, implementation, questionnaire surveys, and evaluation of such initiatives to promote mutual understanding and exchange between Japanese and foreign residents. In addition, we provide lectures, workshops, and volunteer training to municipalities, educational institutions, businesses, and local communities that accept foreign residents regarding how to teach cross-cultural communication and how to use "easy Japanese".
We plan and conduct classes for daily-life Japanese and Japanese for the workplace , etc. specially designed for international residents, employees, and students. Our experienced instructors teach practical Japanese that can be used immediately by setting the necessary contents and number of hours according to the level of the learners and their individual goals. Classes are conducted both in-person and on-line. We also plan and carry out training programs to improve the skills of local supporters of Japanese language learning. We teach how to create a curriculum tailored to local participants, specific teaching points, how to deal with the absence of a medium language, and how to use realia.
We plan and operate international exchange programs that connect people from overseas and Japan, especially the younger generation, to promote mutual understanding and build friendship and trust beyond differences in society, culture, religion, and lifestyle. For the invitation and dispatch Programs, JICE creates and implements programs that combine courtesy visits, school exchanges, company visits, discussions, homestays, and more. On site, JICE "coordinators" provide support for communication in each language. In addition, JICE provides accommodation and meals that take into consideration the religion and custom of each participating country.
We provide interpretation and translation services required for all types of situations, including lecture interpretation for training, facilitation, accompanying participants on site visits, accompanying participants in various exchange programs and interpret for them as well as interpret for overseas dignitaries. We can provide services in 31 languages, including English, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Nepalese, Indonesian, Thai, Laotian, and Dari.
We support the daily life of the international students accepted by universities and other educational institutions conducting academic monitoring, and providing emergency response services while in Japan. We provide timely support in cooperation with the international students themselves and related organizations, such as orientation upon arrival in Japan, apartment hunting, assistance in starting up daily life, procedures at government offices, checking academic progress and meeting with academic advisors, health counseling and accompaniment to hospitals, safety checks in the event of natural disasters, and provision of information on local events. We carefully attend to international students and support them so that they can enjoy a safe, secure, and fulfilling study abroad experience. We also provide consultation on local support before coming to Japan, Japanese language training, job hunting support, etc.
JICE staff members who are professionals in international cooperation, coordinators of various languages, and international students can be dispatched as lecturers to educational events held by local communities and schools to promote international understanding. Our staff lecturers can introduce the outline of a foreign country they are familiar with, its society, economy, culture, and customs in an easy-to-understand manner, and talk about the charms of Japan that they felt through living in various places outside Japan.
We invite government administrators and technical officers from overseas to carry out training in various specialized fields. Based on the needs, requests, and background of the client and participants, we formulate an appropriate training curriculum that combines lectures, observation tours, and exercises, and provide one-stop support for training implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. At the training site, JICE coordinators accompany the participants and ensure smooth communication, from interpretation of lectures to facilitation of the training. We emphasize training that emphasizes active learning, in which participants learn independently through exchanges of opinions, presentations, and reflections.
We conduct surveys related to international exchange, international cooperation, and Japanese language education. JICE has conducted surveys for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and local government projects. We also have a wide variety of networks through our business and can respond to a wide range of requests for survey requests.
